does radon really cause lung cancer?
Yes, radon has been proven to cause lung cancer. Radon, coming from uranium underground, decays quickly and gives off tiny radioactive particles. When these particles are inhaled, they can damage the cells that line the lung. Long-term exposure to radon can lead to lung cancer. It is specifically the high concentrations of radon in homes and businesses, that lead to this health hazard.

Do I need to worry about radon if I never go in my basement?
Yes. The level of radon, measured in pCi/l, is rarely much different from one level to the next. Usually it is a matter of a few pCi/l. Simply put, this is because of stack effect. In my radon measurement I have often tested the main floor of homes and found high concentrations of radon. In a real estate transaction I am required to test the lowest level of the home, but if you as a concerned homeowner, would like me to test the main floor of your home I would be happy to oblige. how long does mitigation take and how long to clear it out?
Typically your mitigation system will be set up in one day. In fact, we are generally finished installing a basic system in 4 or 5 hours. In the event you have a crawlspace it may take one or two full days to install. Your radon level will typically be under the action level in about 24 hours post mitigation!
could radon harm my children more than me?
Children are more sensitive to radon because their lungs are smaller and their respiratory rates are twice as high. Doctors say that, by the age of 10, a child receives twice the lung dose of an adult who’s been exposed to radon for the same length of time. Don’t chance it! Test your home!
